I had a thread about Gatto here:
http://similarminds.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3990

He's an interesting guy, being able to look at society and try to figure out where it came from and why. It was cool of him to try to actually educate children while he was a teacher in the poor inner cities, letting them define projects and let them work on them.

i think iq tests mean and represent some things (like how well one is likely to do in college). there's not much about creativity in standard iq tests is there? if, everyone is a unique individual then each will be different in every respect-every aspect. people tend to put these traits on linear scales (quantitative-qualitavtive...measures-judgements) and seek to gain some knowledge perhaps. no one is the same, thus no one is equally as smart, creative, insightful, good and so on as anyone else. if one is too much on the positive side of these things there will be problems (most likely problems of a nature, fact, and substance of which most others will not likely be able to understand, comprehend nor help)...whereas if the divergence occurs toward the less empowering side of human life there will likely develop problems of an opposite nature & substance (though these problems tend to be understandable by most). either way...trust yourself. fwiw, i tend not to talk about things in terms of iq now. i seem to do just fine (well sort of) by describing things in other ways.... tests seek to test for something. how well they succeed in doing this is another matter. (ps. i like to swear too and i think i'm rather good at it :)

dude, I'm in College Physics II class and my professor just introduced the new term called Tesla relating to magnetism. COOL. Cool

I wouldn't say IQ can measure how well a person does in college. It depends on how intuitive the professors are for me. My IQ is at minimal 120 and at 138 max. I'm in a community college, i'm not liking it, lol.

it's all electricity...magnetism...waves...and particles combined /// in a sense, a very big part of the essence of "life". it seems do-able...if, hasn't been done already. all is connected. electricity...is nearly god (more to the point...it is life and conscious to a high degree)...i think. though of course there's more to it and things than this. it is key.

- expect language to not properly convey everything. to think that it can do so is to make a mistake. seek the intent and essence of what is typed. there is and will always likely be room for improvement. -
