most people do find them appealing from the inside; from seeeing the world through harry's eyes. But I myself don't know how I would react to Harry is I met him IRL. The more I try to think of him from an external perspective, the less I like him.
Sometimes I wonder if Snape is ever capable of understanding any of Harry's strengths, at any moment in the plot. Are there moments when snape acknowledges that Harry is actually beneficial to something? Can snape intelectually grasp the vastness of Harry's Fi? _________________ Mercy, INFP, RLUEI, INFj.... I have always managed to see Harry from the outside; perhaps that is why he has never appealed much to me. I find the people I know IRL who exhibit similar tendencies to be quite exasperating and difficult to deal with. Much of what goes on in the HP world is colored by Harry's own often quite biased perspective. When you break free of that, things can look quite different.
Snape is a prime example of this. We see him almost always through Harry's eyes. If he does appreciate anything about Harry, we may never see it because Harry himself cannot. More objectively, Snape might appreciate Harry's loyalty to his friends, his ability to improvise, and even his capacity for love that is so toxic to Voldemort. Snape has this capacity himself, as Harry finally learns at the end of the series, although he has all but lost it through sustained disuse. Of course, Snape has his own biases, and would have to judge Harry on his own merits, without regard to the animosity between himself and James.
As for whether Snape can grasp the extent of Harry's Fi, I'm not sure. My own understanding of Fi is functional but limited, largely focused on using my own Fi to keep me true to myself and my principles. I might recognize the presence of a much stronger, more sophisticated and well developed Fi in someone else without truly grasping its extent or inner workings. Assuming Snape is also INTJ, it may be similar for him. At least there are convincing fanfics in which he recognizes the illogic in holding James' faults against Harry, and is amazed by how good-hearted Harry still is after all he has been through. _________________ Romana

INTJs cant really keep away from the dark side for long. Harry's loss of emotional control contridicts every aspect of INTJ profile.
If harry was an INTJ, he would have "harmed" anyone who would have went against him _________________

Don't project.
My brother wouldn't waste time on revenge. He would go about his original intentions and stronger desires.

^ true.
what makes them villains in books isn't that they hate everyone (that could be understandable); it's that they don't care. This not caring makes them significantly stronger and harder to defeat, since you can't harm them emotionally.

Remeber the last movie? harry was bullied by a bunch of nuts. If he was INTJ, he would have retaliated.

Indeed.
It may seem to others we don't care when in fact we simply care about different things. The average INTJ is probably more aware than other types of his/her "dark side" because we don't shy away from it, but that doesn't mean we must succumb to it. The greater understanding and familiarity may in fact make us more resistant to the enticements of "evil". I can see the appeal of retaliation or revenge, especially if it could be effected in a way that was creative, clever, and untraceable without interfering with more important goals (a fun problem to solve), but getting what I originally wanted would be the main priority for me as well. The best revenge is prevailing in the end. _________________ Romana

1) we're not discussing Harry being an INTJ.
2) not being revengeful makes Coop's brother weird? _________________ Mercy, INFP, RLUEI, INFj.... Aries and Dragon.... and such stuff. |

Seems Benzai is suggesting how Harry might behave if he were INTJ, and Zillah and I have pointed out that some of the Harry/Snape conflict may be type related.

I wouldn't assume an INTJ to be vengeful, but I would think it unusual for him/her simply to accept bullying, harassment, or unreasoned opposition. We are not generally the type to turn the other cheek, but are usually willing and able to defend ourselves and our priorities with the resources at our disposal. Harry often does not do this, but I bet Cooper's brother does. Am I right?? _________________ Romana

I started this series last week. I'm currently reading the third book. It's not as bad as I thought when I was younger, even considering that the spanish translation is not a great job. _________________ ... |

I didn't really start READING reading it until the 5th book, because i wanted to read it before I saw the movie. _________________ INFP 4w5
