Some wisdom is applying the "knowledge" we have learned and "seeing"
patterns.
These intuitive, sensing, seeing of patterns in the knowledge is wisdom.
Some of us seem to possess and almost 6th / "sixth" SENSE.
It could be construed to be tapping into Carl Jung's super
unconscious. From here comes wisdom as well.
It's like tapping into a well.
INFP's in PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME by David Keirsey and
Marilyn Bates, are Appolonions.
That is we are in a sense oracle's.
(it does not mean that everything we say is understandable
currently or that it is entirely correct)
It needs to be refined by the "REALISTS"!
but it is a start.

I do not claim to have the answer to how one develops wisdom. I think necessary conditions include time and diversity of experience. These are related in the sense that, over time, one has the chance to encounter a greater diversity of experiences. I see diversity as important because it causes us to expand our understanding beyond what we already know and feel comfortable with.

In my discussions with C. Beck, who I greatly admire, I say that it is life's
experiences that may or may not provide insight and an opportunity
for growth.
Unless a person has walked the necessary miles on the "path", words
tend to go in one ear and out the other.
Romana states "time and diversity of experience".
Diversity forces us to CHANGE and adapt. It forces us to expand our
parameters of what's "right" & wrong. In doing so we grow and expand.
We can become stronger and wiser.

True wisdom, comes from within, time, and life's experiences. At least for
myself.
There is the external knowledge of the world, there are advise givers
promoting solutions of what you should do. The advise giver unknowingly is
triggered and unconsciously are projecting what they would do, to lessen the
unconscious anxiety that they themselves feel!!
If you are not ALREADY doing it that means there is a subconscious reason
why you are not already doing.
This is where "EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE" and "COGNITIVE SCIENCE" comes
Into play!!!
This echoes what Romana echoed "time and diversity of experience",
and "causes us to expand our understanding" to lead to wisdom.

One of the things i've noticed is that we all have different backgrounds and
specialties.
Some of us have specialties in anthropology, auto mechanics, dance,
psychology, history, physics, mathematics, body kinetics, and the list
goes on.
The point is, in my mind, is that each of these specialties, have a keen
Insight on human progression and happiness. But also each of these
specialties may have a special language and terminology use.
In trying to relate our knowledge to others outside our specialty and
Interest, we may "lose" people.
This is because our brain and attention span usually only has interest
in their own private body of knowledge (generally speaking). It is
difficult to present and communicate one's "WISDOM" in each of our
chosen fields.
I use the metaphor of the crystal of TOTAL human knowledge, in past
posts. Each of us has a part to play, a part to share! We are all
Interrelated.
We need to pool our knowledge in order for the wisdom of the human
species to grow.

Are you familiar with the story of the blind men and the elephant? It has always been one of my favorites.

YES, Romana, I am.
In fact it is probably one of my top dozen metaphors or analogies!
I think it illustrates the point perfectly, about us all somewhat "blind" &
none of us seeing reality in it's entirety.
It is only when we put all of our insights together do we even begin to see
reality or the "truth" clearly.

One aspect I especially appreciate is how none of the blind men is exactly wrong, unless he insists that he has the complete picture. We all can have "truth", or correct information, but that does not preclude others from having complementary knowledge. Together, we can gain an understanding that is greater than the mere sum of the parts, just as an elephant is more than an assemblage of legs, tusks, ears, etc.

Yes. " together, we can gain an understanding". Yes. This is one of the reasons
I am for rational dialogue with facts, statistics, personal stories. ". POSITIVE
ENERGY. Dialogue vs. arguing with labels and the use of pejoratives.
NEGATIVE ENERGY. Because, the irony is that both may be right, but in a
limited fashion. "how none of the blind men is exactly wrong unless he insists
he has the whole picture". The team member who can use "EMOTIONAL
INTELLGENCE" can help sort out the rational and reasonable points from both sides.
The project, endeavor, or undertaking can move forward vs. stuck in a
senseless quagmire.

There is a saying "we have TWO ears and only one mouth, therefore we should
listen more than speak".
I think this is a very wise saying! I also think that it would help the world a lot
if we but follow it! It seems our ego's and defense mechanisms kick in before
we even begin to understand where the other person was coming from.

Here is something else to ponder. In developing as a child, one must learn to
have an identity and an "EGO".
As an adult, on the "PATH", we must learn to let go of our ego and transcend
It.
We must learn to let go of defensiveness.
We need to learn "TRANSPERANCY" and "openness", in order to heal.
