How can reason stand up to fear and the masses?
It all goes back to education.
We are not taught critical thinking since kindergarten.
We do both ourselves, our children, as well as society a disservice.

I misread this quickly as "fear OF emotion and emotional reasoning". I would not necessarily characterize it as fear, but I tend to avoid emotional reasoning because I do not consider myself to be good at it. I do not trust the decisions I would make on such bases. I tend to be unwilling to indulge in emotions unless I am alone, or with one of the few people closest to me. Is this part of what you are describing?

Emotional reasoning is really a misnomer.
It is one of the cognitive distortions.
It is different/ they are different.
I subconsciously fear "It" or "them"
I react out of the fear and label "them" as evil.
I "feel" my hate and fear to be justified.
Therefore it is true. This is an error in judgment.
Emotional intelligence is useful.
Emotional reasoning is a misnomer and extremely dangerous.
That is we make decisions out if emotion and not reasoning.
Just because I feel it to be true does not make it true.

As far as changing other people.
Change has to come from within.
When something does not make sense there is of
course an unconscious reason. When people do
something "stupid" people are controlled by
unconscious forces.

We must learn to concentrate on our journey and stop trying to fix or change
the other person so much.
Their lessons come from within themselves and life's experiences.

Change is very hard.
Trying to achieve change is like whispering into the wind.
Unless someone can raise our social consciousness with tales of grief
& woe to stir our dormant & latent passions.
But how, how to achieve this is the frustrating part.
Unless someone can write a book.
Or there is a state of emergency, where immediate action is required.
Or perhaps someone can direct a film.
I want to be an agent of social change.

If a person on the path is very dissimilar, then we don't fight them, and
try to change them into our journey.
If possible, we let them go on their way and predestined chosen path.
We must concentrate on our path.
Meet others of similar mind set.
Be positive. Be true to our selves and our higher calling.

What I THINK, FEEL, & BELIEVE in PASSIONATELY may be WRONG and is subject
to change even dramatically!!
That is why keep an open mind, open heart, & an open spirit.
And keep anger to a minimum because you may be fooling only yourself!

If it is hard for you to "CHANGE",
then how can you "REALISTICALLY" & rationally believe that you can "CHANGE"
another human "being".
Knowing this truth could prevent so much misery.
People are always seeing to change others
rather than look within.
It is extremely difficult to change, even if one wants to.
It is almost impossible to change another human being.
The "CHANGES" have to come from within.
What one can do is:
State your boundaries.
State your feelings.
State your position and wants, wishes, & expectations etc.
Do not seek to control the other.
This is negative energy.
It will come back your way if you seek to impose your "WILL" upon
another human being. This ties into existentialism & individuality.
