Battles is math rock.
MBV is shoegaze... loveless even came the same time as Slint's Spiderland
i would say yes, but it's the shortest lived genre of all time
i was hooked on it from the start, it doesn't really get better after Gybe, early EitS, Sigur Ros, ASMZ. _________________ intp |

I'm sorry, I can't hear you, I'm still living in the age of indie.

t'was a joke, implying that I was too old and uncool for your post-post stuff.
Of course my assumption that indie as the style of music existed before post-rock, which may be false, since i have no idea.
Bottom line is, I was attempting to be amusing, and failed miserably _________________ Mercy, INFP, RLUEI, INFj.... Aries and Dragon.... and such stuff. |

Shoegaze and Post-Rock are similar enough.
They are grandfathered into Post-Rock
(being that the term didn't exist when the term Shoegaze was thought of) _________________

The reason why Lenka's doesn't really make sense is because she isn't saying what she means by indie. Technically, the majority of the bands I posted are indie bands... _________________

foodlord? shoegaze (dream pop sense) is totally not related to post rock. how much shoegaze have you heard? it's simply pure rock structure. i've listened to about all the critically acclaimed shoegaze and then some and it keeps doing it's own thing even when post rock happened. what really set post rock off was the grunge band Slint. and uh, Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden.
Loveless came out the same year as Spiderland (Slint), and theyre pretty much worlds apart. Shoegaze can be just as much doom metal as it can be punk. but i haven't heard any shoegaze post rock.
by the way, "indie" as a genre would be bands like Guided By Voices, Built to Spill, etc. being an independent label doesnt make you sound "indie."
im not trying to get riled up, lol, ive just listened to this stuff religiously for the longest time, and it once seemed to me they were similar but theyre quite different. _________________ intp |
