A few of my favorites are Salman Rushdie, Kurt Vonnegut, Elie Weisel, John Steinbeck, and Franz Kafka... Any idea what types these authors are or to what type these authors appeal??

i would guess Kurt Vonnegut and Franz Kafka are 5w4s.

http://www.geocities.com/lifexplore/enfame.htm types kafka as 5w4
http://www.lessons4living.com/enneagram5.htm types kafka as 5
http://www.thechangeworks.com/monthly%20mu...stionmonth.html types vonnegut as 7 (but i think that is wrong)

"Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World", Haruki Murakami

5w4 (at least it spoke to me when I first read it).

I am a fan of crime fiction, but a very picky one!! I am currently reading Kathy Reichs 'Deja Dead' which is extremely good. Away from crime fiction though, I would have to vote for Steven Pinker, Paul Britton, and Bill Bryson to name but a few!! Razz

Authors
Jeanette Winterson, Oscar Wilde, Banana Yoshimoto, Nick Bantock, Madeleine L'Engle, Charlotte Bronte, Tolkien, Tad Williams, Welwyn Wilton Katz, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Holmes) ... there are more, but I cannot think of them off the top of my head.

I'm a fan of Anne Rice, John Rechy, William S. Burroughs, Walt Whitman, and Rimbaud.

Rice: The Vampire Lestat
John Rechy: City of Night
William S. Burroughs: Queer
Walt Whitman: Leaves of Grass (Nothing else done by him anyway! lol)
Rimbaud: His poetry, favorite, Ophelia

Aren't the majority of authors INTJs? I read that in Keirsey's book I think. I enjoy mysteries a lot. Dean Koontz is my favorite author.

Thomas Mann, Franz Kafka, In the Penal Colony James Joyce (to a lesser degree), Dostovesky, esp. Notes from the Underground, Virginia Woolf, Camus, esp. The Stranger---all of above are probably 5w4 or 4w5, with exception of Thomas Mann (7? Who knows.)

Early-Romantic era poetry: Coleridge, Wordsworth, Blake--genius

Robert Browning: No, not a stuffy Victorian. Almost orgasmically intense.

T.S. Eliot: "The Wasteland," "The Hollow Men," "Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"

Hmm.. I'm more a poet person. I very much adore Oscar Wilde, Poe, T.S. Eloit and Jim Morrison.

I like Stephen Jay Gould, Isaac Asimov, Kim Stanley Robinson, Lord Byron, Paolo Coelho. I'm INTP, type 5, I don't know if that fits with the writers I like!
