MOTIVES Personality Iconography

Four visual interpretations of the seven MOTIVES personality drives.

Each image strip contains seven panels arranged in the same order: Materialistic, Offbeat, Thinking, Interpersonal, Vital, Easygoing, Sectarian. The images are visual shorthand for the central reward or life strategy represented by each dimension.

They are not meant to imply that a single occupation, historical figure, lifestyle, or appearance literally defines a personality trait. Think of them as symbolic cues for remembering the architecture.

M Materialistic Status, desirability, recognition
O Offbeat Novelty, discovery, reinvention
T Thinking Planning, structure, organization
I Interpersonal Helping, caring, others' welfare
V Vital Optimism, positive energy, engagement
E Easygoing Relaxation, calm, low urgency
S Sectarian Group loyalty, culture, collective defense

The Visual Logic

M · Materialistic

Imagery emphasizes being desirable, impressive, admired, high-status, prestigious, or visibly successful.

O · Offbeat

Imagery emphasizes exploration, novelty, discovery, unconventional thinking, risk, and challenging the familiar.

T · Thinking

Imagery emphasizes deliberate thought, planning, systems, organization, analysis, and controlled execution.

I · Interpersonal

Imagery emphasizes helping, service, care, empathy, sacrifice, and placing other people's welfare high in one's priorities.

V · Vital

Imagery emphasizes enthusiasm, optimism, positive affect, physical or psychological energy, and active engagement with life.

E · Easygoing

Imagery emphasizes relaxation, tranquility, leisure, low urgency, acceptance, and conservation of effort.

S · Sectarian

Imagery emphasizes loyalty to one's group, culture, nation, or collective and willingness to defend its interests.

Important: iconography is mnemonic rather than psychometric. The actual MOTIVES dimensions are defined by patterns across many personality items and correlations, not by resemblance to any one image or person shown in these strips.
